Black Galaxy or Emerald Pearl Granite?

We are in the middle of renovating of our Kitchen. We have an overlay style cherry cabinets in nutmeg stain. It’s fairly a large kitchen with medium amount natural light. We are leaning towards Imperial white granite floor with Emerald pearl counter. We have steel appliances. Just not sure if we should go with black galaxy counter or stay with emerald pearl? Any suggestions for back splash? Please let me if you need additional information.

Thanks,
Nima

Hello Nima,

I sometimes like Black Galaxy when cabinets are darker and the room is formal, but I would go with Emerald Pearl. Emerald Pearl with the nutmeg stain is a perfect combination that will bring subtle color into your kitchen, while still staying as dark as possible with the countertops. I believe the Emerald Pearl offers longer lasting enjoyment as well because of its interesting opalescent inclusions that change under different lighting.

Black Galaxy is also hard to keep looking clean because it shows a lot of dust. If you ever resell your home, many people hate Black Galaxy because of its Vegas Casino ‘bling bling’ appearance.

My very best regards and I would love to get a photo when you are done!

I have two kitchens I need help with:

The first, a well-lghted kitchen with off-white cabinets, about 90 sft. of granite, stainless stell appliances, and noce [brown] porcelain tiles with gray grout. We are considering Emarld Pearl and Blue Pearl. Any suggestions?

The second, a reasonably lighted kitchen, with oak cabinets [honey in color], caramelized bamboo floors. We were consdering the tropical brwon and the silver sea green. Any throughts?

  2. Hello Tom,

I want to use Emerald Pearl granite around the perimeter of my kitchen. The cabinets are maple in whiskey black. ( an orange tone glazed in black). I would like to adorn an 8 foot center island with a lighter color. I like Colonial Treasury. What do you think of this combination? Help, I don’t want to create a mess! Thanks for any help.

  3. Tom, I am remodeling my kitchen with white cabinets, lots of glass uppers. I have a soft green paint on my walls. The kitchen is open to a breakfast nook and family room and the same green color is in all three rooms. I think emerald pearl granite goes best with the color of my walls. Do you like it with white cabinets and would you do black hardware?

  4. Hi: We just purchased KraftMaid’s Praline with Mocha highlights maple cabinets and need help deciding on the granite countertop. We have a ton of natural and artificial light in the room. Our floor tile is Marazzi Montegna Cortina; our wallcolor is Benjamin Moore Boardwalk; our backsplash is chiaro tumbled marble subway tiles with a tumbled marble and glass backsplash [the glass tile is a tiny rust color]. We are leaning towards Black Galaxy or Solarus. Any advice or additional suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Lisa Pisano
